Mini-Retreat Days at Rigpa South Downs
The Heart of Compassion: a series of Mini-Retreat Days focusing on the practices of Compassion found in the Buddhist tradition.
Experiential, spacious, and open to absolutely anyone – these practice days offer an exciting opportunity for practicing and exploring meditation in a beautiful retreat setting only minutes away from Lewes town centre. These days offer the circumstances in which to really enter into meditation practice, and benefit from the atmosphere, focus and support provided by that environment.
The retreat days last year were a great success, attracting people from near as well as far afield. The days are intended to cater for all levels of experience – for both those seeking to deepen their practice, as well as those new to meditation practice – and for people of any age or walk of life.
Saturday 3rd March
This mini-retreat day will focus on two distinct but deeply complimentary meditation practices: Loving Kindness and Meditation Using Emotions as a support.
In practicing these two, we’ll be exploring how working with our emotions in the context of meditation can enable us to extend unconditional good wishes to an ever-widening circle of people, whilst at the same time bring us greater depth, peace and stability in our practice.
The Buddhist meditation on Loving Kindness has been at the forefront of much recent scientific research on contemplative practices and shows extensive benefits for mental, emotional, and physical health and well-being (more information about some of the recent research can be found here).
As with all other mini-retreat days, on this day there will be plenty of time for practicing meditation supported by opportunities for discussion and clarification. Mini-retreat days are open to all – from the most to the least experienced – and would also suit beginners.
The retreat will be held by Rigpa senior instructors with long experience in these practices.
The days are held at the Linklater Pavilion: a remarkable and friendly building nestled in the beautiful ‘Railway Land’ nature reserve of Lewes.
The retreat day schedule will allow time to enjoy the open space, tranquility and inspiration it offers. The building has disabled and lift access, and is very accessible from Lewes bus and train stations. For more info about the Linklater, see here.
The mini-retreat days run from 10.30am – 5.30pm. Refreshments are included in the fee.
Please bear in mind that we will retain a 15% administration fee if you cancel within 30 days of the event.
