There’s something powerful about a regular commitment. Coming back week after week allows relationships to grow naturally, without effort. You start to feel at home in the building, familiar with the rhythms of classes and events, and connected to visiting teachers in a more grounded way.
Service becomes a practice in itself – a way of putting the teachings into action through generosity and care for others. If you’ve ever felt a quiet wish to be a little closer to the centre, or a little more rooted in sangha life, volunteering can be a beautiful place to start. We’re sharing some new volunteering roles below – and we’d love for you to be part of this ever-growing community.
Volunteering is a simple way to support the practice and community life. You can offer as little or as much time as feels right. We’re sharing some new volunteering roles below – and we’d love for you to be part of this ever-growing community.
AV Team
Support live and online teachings through sound, livestreaming, and recordings.
This role supports the smooth running of our in-person, online, and hybrid teachings and events, helping ensure that students, teachers, and facilitators can connect reliably across spaces and platforms.
Working closely with the AV team and fellow volunteers, the AV volunteer looks after sound, cameras, projection, livestreaming, recordings, and video editing, as well as calmly troubleshooting live sessions when needed. Meals, travel support, and access to all Rigpa courses and events are provided, making this a rare opportunity to offer skilled service while studying, and practising as part of the life of the centre.
Bookshop
Help care for books and stock; mostly remote with occasional onsite support.
We’re also looking for a volunteer to help care for and develop the Rigpa bookshop. This role supports the running of the shop — ordering books and Dharma items, working with suppliers, keeping stock organised, and helping ensure the bookshop remains a welcoming and well-cared-for space. Much of this role can be done remotely, with a hope the right volunteer will be able to join us onsite at Rigpa around once a month.
The bookshop is often a first point of contact for newcomers, as well as a quiet resource for long-time students, so this role combines practical responsibility with gentle human connection, as part of our hospitality team. If you enjoy working with books and supporting the Dharma in a tangible way, this could be a lovely fit.
Social Media (remote)
Help share classes and events online; flexible and fully remote.
We need a volunteer to help share what’s happening at Rigpa across Instagram and Facebook — and, ideally, YouTube as well. This role is fully remote and supports the wider communications team by helping make the life of the centre visible: promoting classes and events, supporting engagement, and working closely with our designer, educators, and volunteer contributors. If you also have video editing skills — particularly for short-form content — that would be especially welcome, as we’re hoping to bring social media and video editing together into one integrated role. If you enjoy storytelling, visual communication, and helping the Dharma reach people where they are, we’d love to hear from you.
If you’re interested but unsure whether you meet every part of a role description, please don’t let that stop you from applying. You don’t need to tick every box to get in touch. If something here resonates, we’d genuinely love to hear from you and have a conversation. Applications are open to everyone, and curiosity, sincerity, and a willingness to learn are just as valued as prior experience.
